A Day in the Life of a Residential Youth Substance Use Program

March 7, 2024

Here’s how we treat our adolescent patients and set them up for the next stage of success

At our adolescent behavioral residential treatment center, we aim to ease the stress for your teen by structuring their days in a way that promotes recovery, education, therapy, recreation, and healthy habits.

While individual care plans vary, here’s a general look at our inpatient adolescent behavioral health approach to substance use disorder treatment and recovery.

Morning and Evening Routines

Wake-up calls are at a set time and allow for personal hygiene and a communal breakfast. This allows your teen to prepare for the day and prioritize self-care. We also maintain set bedtimes to ensure patients get adequate rest for the next day.

Individual and Group Therapies

Our ASAM-approved substance use treatment program is a specialty track within our residential program. This program encourages responsibility and develops self-help strategies through:

  • Individual, group, and family therapy
  • Trauma-informed care provided by qualified professionals with experience treating substance use disorders.
  • The Specialized Substance Use Treatment Tasks and Recovery Model based on the Stages of Change Model

Patients are housed with like-gendered patients in the program and receive care specific to substance use disorder, separate from our other programs.

Daily and Weekly Activities

In addition to receiving treatment, our youth may participate in various other programs, activities, and family visitations. We believe healing takes a community effort, so we provide access to activities like family outings, birthday and holiday celebrations, cookouts, swimming, and daily phone calls, for example.

Getting the Help Your Teen Needs

Being separated from your teen while they are receiving substance use disorder treatment isn’t easy—for you or them. Learn more about our inpatient substance use program by contacting us today.
