Our mission at Hallmark Youthcare has always been to empower our youth to develop the tools and healthy coping mechanisms they need to succeed in life. That’s why, in addition to our treatment programs and counseling services, we also invest in education and skill-building, allowing us to care for the whole individual.
Here’s a quick look at how we’re starting the new year with advancements in our educational programs.
As technologies evolve, so do the ways in which students best learn and receive information. That’s why we’ve focused our educational improvements on reducing paper, updating instructional materials, and individualizing the learning environment to keep students consistently engaged. Among these improvements include:
With multiple ages, grade levels, and academic abilities together in one classroom, we’ve traded a traditional desk arrangement in favor of individual workstations. Dividers between desk spaces allow for focused work and are conducive to our shift to personalized, online education.
Replacing old or broken Chromebooks has been a top priority in our classrooms. New Chromebooks have the latest updates and security features, allowing students to complete their work safely and efficiently.
We’ve added the IXL program, which provides done-for-you curricula, skill assessments, and learning resources for teachers, allowing them to meet each student wherever they are. With a mix of ages and academic abilities in one classroom, teachers can now provide individualized instruction at scale, along with the ability to assess each student’s performance along the way.
Another teacher resource, Nearpod enables teachers to create interactive lessons, polls, and assessments to know how their students are progressing. The platform integrates with existing learning materials, including videos, PowerPoints, and other resources, to save time and continue delivering focused instruction.
The Imagine Learning program empowers teachers to facilitate interactive, personalized learning. Teachers can annotate each student’s work while talking through it, helping students to identify skill gaps and take a self-guided approach to their education. Students also obtain credits that will transfer back to their home counties.
Tailored for Career and Technical Education (CTE) students, iCEV offers a rich learning library and assessments for teachers to keep kids engaged and excited about learning real-world skills. Career prep curriculum and industry certifications cover cosmetology, health sciences, construction, and more.
McAfee Academy is Hallmark Youthcare’s on-campus school, offering regular and special education services to ensure all educational needs are met. It is our goal to meet students where they are so they can smoothly transition back into public school upon completion of their residential treatments.
Our investments in new technologies and infrastructure improvements allow us to continue providing the best total care for adolescents striving for a higher quality of life.
